2.8L '86 base firebird fan not working
2.8L '86 base firebird fan not working
Hey guys,
I'm a regular over at TAC but don't wander here often. I have an '86 firebird I use for daily driving but now I have been having trouble with my fan. Over the summer it stopped kicking on so I took it to my boys at my tire shop and they replaced the motor, which worked for a bit. It stopped working again on the car ride down to school (CT to VA) so I was bummin. I replaced the coolant sensor and thermostat, and then eventually the relay. The motor started working again... then a day later I felt the A/C getting warm and groaned as I pulled over to see that white smoke. I hit the motor with a hammer gently and it started working again... then it stopped. I figured the motor was bad... I bought a replacement connector from a store and hooked it up to 12v's and the fan came on no sweat... I checked the fuses the other day and they all looked ok... today I tried running a new ground from the black line going into the fan to the body and I got another relay, still nothing. I guess I'm finally out of ideas! I got a new fan switch but can't figure out where it is, someone told me p/s by the manifold but I couldn't find it. I also had no idea where to look for the normal ground for the fan.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks guys, -Jack
