Ok hardroc, how about some info about your car. Year, make, model, engine, carb, TPI, TBI, trans, single or dual fans, etc. You did not mention anything about a fan switch, that`s what your problem sounds like, have you checked it? Depending on your cars specs, it could be on the passenger side of the engine between #6 & #8 cylinder and may have a single wire going to it. If you find the wire, ground it and if the fan runs the switch is bad, replace it.

Not sure about your car but my `88 Iroc has the coolant fan switch on the passenger side between 6 & 8 and the temp sensor for the temp gauge is on the driver side between 1 & 3. I`m having severe knee trouble the past few days so it may take me awhile to get back upstairs to respond to your questions.
