URGENT! Radiator Help!!

Hi Everyone,

I'll admit it... I'm really Stupid!! So, with that out of the way, I need to ask a stupid question...

I have a 1985 Z28 w/ 305 V8 carburated with no A/C and an auto transmission.

I just purchased a new radiator but noticed that the positioning of the Lower Rad hose AND the lower Tranny cooler line are different compared to the one on the car. Specifically, the tranny line is now located on top of the lower rad hose...

I called the Rad place and they say this is the only rad for my car and engine...

STUPID QUESTION: is the Tranny line flexible enough (have enough "give") that I can hook it up on the new rad or does it have to be in the lower position??

I'm currently fighting with the Rad place as they say it will fit but the point is once I install the rad and it doesn't fit, I can't get a refund or exchange...

Any one have some helpful advice?? or have experience with this type of Rad??

Thanks in advance for the feedback...

Cheers,
Ken

Re: URGENT! Radiator Help!!

Most likely the radiator you have in the car now was not the correct one for your application and the one you bought is, so things don`t line up. Don`t try bending your trans cooler line without the proper tool, you will kink it and it won`t be good for anything. There is a tube bender set that I got at Lowes that would work for you. The bender looks like a large spring with a flare on each end. You slip the cooler line into the bender and bend the line where you need it without any kinks. The nice thing about this type of bender is that they work in limited space. You might try another parts store and look at the radiators they have before doing any mods with what you have. If the other radiator is "correct" then return the other one and if it is the same you need to do some minor mods to make it fit. There are several more ways to get the lines to connect. Try looking at another radiator at another parts store first.
