Looks like i might have hit the jackpot!
Well, today in continuing my quest for a can of R-12, I stopped in to a little family owned auto parts store. They said they didnt have any in stock anymore, but that he hasnt sold a single can since the liscense was required to buy it. I showed him my MACS certification, and he didnt even know if that was the right card I need to buy it, because he never sold any. He gave me a 800 number to call and see if I had the right liscense
.
Well, during this conversation, the other guy behind the counter found 5 cans in stock in the warehouse. He said if its found out I have the right card, I can buy them. I was expecting like upwards of $30 a can, so I asked him, and he was like the computer says they are $4.23 a can! If this works out, I might buy all 5 cans! Because it only takes 3 to do a full recharge from empty, right?

I have heard things from some local mechanics that R12 has a certain "leak" period... Like if R12 sits in a can for a certain amount of time it will eventually leak out. Before you buy this i would ask around and see if this is true. I am no chemist but it seems to make sense...

i've been able to buy r-12 as something called Autofrost for the last few years at our local parts store. it runs about $11 / can, as far as leaking out, i doubt it simply shaking a can will tell you how much is still in it

The parts stores around here dont sell autofrost. I wish they did, I might be more likely to use that instead. But, its not r-12 compatible like Freeze-12, and I heard you have to change out all the lines and stuff to convert to it.
