1986 Z28...heater core lines and TPI cooling lines

After reading thru a posting about replacing the heater core, I was hoping to find someone that could answer a few questions for me.....My heater core dont seem to be leaking, but I recently bought this car from someone that had capped off both ends of the heater core because the radiator and water pump dont have outlets for the heater core. I put the line back on the left side and it goes to the side of the TPI air injection. The right line on the core I tapped into with a T valve where the other line from the TPI goes into the block. I ran the car for a few minutes and let it get up to operating temperature. Nothing seems to be leaking, but even after the engine got warm, the vents barely blew warm air. Can I just cap off the end that goes to the front of the TPI and run a single line from the block to the heater core and let the right side line of the core feed into the side of the TPI? Would capping off the other TPI line hurt anything?
