Mounting auxiliary fan switch
I have been wanting to do this for awhile. Have been reading many horror stories about fan switches screwing up and cars spewing there inards all over the highway. Nothing wrong with mine, works as it should, just wanted a little piece of mind. Anyways I couldn't find a good spot to mount my switch. I didn't want to punch any holes in my dash or use my driving light switch as I have read many have. I tried having it down by the fuse holder but me being over 6 feet tall and having to drive with my seat all the way back I couldn't reach the switch without undoing my seatbelt and taking my eyes off the road or worse yet..knocking myself out hitting my head on the steering wheel...Not to smart in traffic. I knew I would have to get this switch up where I reach it without any of the above problems. I just couldn't see drilling a hole in my console as then my inards would be all over the inside of the car. Anyways I was JY-ing yesterday and came across this camaro that was just about bare bones. I looked inside and the ashtray was laying on the floorboard. For a buck I brought it home, pulled mine out and put it in a safe place, drilled a small hole for the switch and installed it.
Easy to reach now without taking eyes off road. I can close ashtray lid and no one knows it is even there. Seems to work for me.
