Dude, what car and what engine were you putting this radiator in????Anyway, as long as the hose from the t stat housing is going to the top hose (or highest hose connection) on the radiator as it sits in the car, it should work fine. PS......This is your radiator man talking!!!LOL (seems like alot of people on here have very uneducated opinions) Scott, dba., Best Radiator Repair, Warehouse & Custom Muffler Ctr.

Re: 4thgen radiator setup for a Gen 1 engine?

Here's the problem you will have with this swap....Your original radiator measures 26.25" on the core width. This is where the radiator mounts in the car on the rubber saddles on the bottom. 4th gen radiators, depending on which year, are either 28.25" or 24.68" at the same mounting point. The 28.25 will not fit in the car and clear the subframe so install is an impossibility. This pertains to 93-97 units so rule that one out. The 98-2002 radiator assemblies are a possible option but you won't gain anything. In fact, you will lose. Because the core is only 24.68" long left to right, versue your current 26.25" long, you actually lose about 8 to 10% of your core area. I would stick with the 3rd gen stuff if you have it and if possible, the oem dual fan set up unless you're going to spend some $$$ The replacement radiator I sell for your car with a V8 is $108.00 and some change, plus shipping or you can upgrade to a 2 row all aluminum aftermarket raditor for $309.00 and some change plus shipping. I keep them both. I would scrap the 4th gen swap idea as neither is a viable swap in my opinion.......Scott, dba., Best Radiator Repair, Warehouse & Custom Muffler Ctr....

Re: 4thgen radiator setup for a Gen 1 engine?

i have 2) 3rdgen ones one is out of a 1le car its plastic and all aluminum and the other is the brass copper ect one, i have a single and a duel 3rdgen fan and i have a duel 4thgen fan - i head that the 4thgen fans are huge on how much CFM they can flow and i can modify it to fit what would you do if you where me and wanted a real cool flowing setup for obesely nothing with the parts I have laying round?

Re: 4thgen radiator setup for a Gen 1 engine?

if the3rd gen radiator is clean inside and in good shape (aluminum one) install it, if the copper/brass 3rd gen one is atleast a 3 row, install it if it's clean and in good shape. If the copper/brass is a 2 row, take it to the scrap yard and you'll get 15.00 to 20.00 scrap money towards a new replacement. The fans are up to you, however, I don't suppose the4th gen fans are that superior to a pair of 3rd gens unless they are completely shrouded as one assembley. If they are, it might be somewhat of an upgrade depending on you you wire them to come on.
