Re: cooling intake

Whaaat??????? Oil Cooler ?????? Anyway, if you're dumping in after the thermostat, you would be dumping in at the housing or the top radiator hose as the coolant is sucked into the front of the block by the pump, sent to the rear of the block and back to the front via the heads, into the intake manifold and pushes against the thermostat (which opens against the direction of flow), into the thermostat housing and the top radiator hose and heads to the radiator, accross the core into the fill tank and begins it's journey all over again. Not sure what the oil cooler is about. Are you refering to an oil cooler that goes between the block and the spin on oil filter????? If so, there are a number of places to plumb the coolant from. Optimal would probably be supply from a block plug before the coolant gets too warmed from the engine and return it into the heater hose return on the radiator or into the plug in the top of the waterpump. Kindof depends on where your headers are, and what all your running on your car for accessories. Just always remember, WATER PUMPS SUCK! This means that the pump sucks coolant into the lower radiator hose and then pushes it into the block. Any port on a SBC engine in the water pump will suck. Any point of coolant in the block, heads or intake manifold is thus a supply point for directing coolant towards some other job like water to oil coolers. Does this help at all????

Re: cooling intake

Are you talking about the hose connection below the fill neck? If so, it's the heater return. If you are not needing to use the connection that is on your radiator because you're either not running a heater or your heater return hose is running into the water pump, just go to the parts house and request a 5/8"cap plug compatible with coolant temps and use it to shut the connection off on the radiator. This is assuming that having an extra 5/8" nipple under the fill neck is your problem. If this is not your problem, then I assume you have the opposite problem which is an extra hose with nowhere to go. If that is it, you need to verify what the hose goes to on the other end and let me know. Take a pic and post if this is not the right information to address your problem.
