Or a carb hose and water neck. Most of the aftermarket upper and lower hoses are trim-to-fit "universal" ones anyway.

Re: help with upper hose

I'm pretty sure you could use a hose for a, oh, say about a 82 Elcamino w/ V8. They had the same length radiator left to right, the alternator was in about the same place and they had the motor crammed into the engine compartment like our cars. They should have the larger thermostat housing outlet and should also have the small hose connection on the radiator (1 5/16") of course look before you buy. I usually take a piece of wire and bend it into the configuration I need and take it to the parts house. To date have never not been able to come up with a moulded hose that would work for about any vehicle whether the parts guys said the didn't have it or not. Just find a patient one and don't go over the lunch hour. LOL

Re: help with upper hose

Get rid of the crappy chrome-over-zamac water outlet that points off at the sky in some stupid direction, before it leaks like it eventually is GUARANTEED, even DESIGNED, to.

Get a regular cast iron replacement one at the parts store (about $7.50 maybe) for something like a 69 Chevelle 350, or a 74 full-size car 454. Pretty much, any carbed Chevy V8 from before they started putting sensors and stuff in it. Although, you could use a later one; you'd just have to plug the holes.

Then get the stock rad hose for about a 84 carbed V8 one of these cars, at the same part store at the same time. 305, 4-barrel.

It'll all fit like it was meant to be there.

Re: help with upper hose

I'm sorry, I think I was wrong on that application as I looked up the Tstat housing for the Elcamino as well as the 69 Chevelle and the 74 454 Impala. All show to be turned to the drivers side which would run you right into your alternator and all those housings have threaded holes in them in the cast iron version. May have to stick with bending a wire into the shape you need to run the hose in and go to the parts house with that for a pattern. Keep your aluminum housing, it looks good with the other chrome you're trying to do under the hood. Looks nice.

Or you could pop for some flex hose and custom bend anyway you see fit. That's what I did for my set-up. I also used a swivel water neck.

Re: help with upper hose

Thanks for all the replies, i did a search but nothing i read helped me. or i would not have posted.

im budget racing that water neck has been on 4 of my other 350s in the past 10years with no issues what so ever. so there is no need to waste money to replace it. but thanks for your oppinon.

the elcamino hose was the closest looking at the parts store but as you stated it goes right into the alenator. im going to use the wire design, i dont know why i didnt think of that first and thanks for the looking nice, it looks alot better cleaned up

thanks for the pics of the flex hose, it dosnt look all that bad... did you have to paint it?

I used the Mr. Gasket G-Flex hose. Powder coated stainless steel available in different colors. JEG's carries it.
