replaced fan motor, now works only intermittently

I had the fan motor replaced on my '92 Camaro RS 305 approximately 4 months ago. The previous owner had the fan wired to run anytime the ignition was turned on. The fan motor will now work only intermittenly. Sometimes the fan will come on when the car is started, sometimes it won't. A couple of times, the fan will come on when the car is started, and seconds later it will shut itself off. The car now randomly runs almost dangerously hot in stop-and-go traffic. Any ideas? Thanks so much...

Re: replaced fan motor, now works only intermittently

run 12 volts to fan direct and see if it kicks in or if fan is bad. if good then
you might have a wire/gound problem (look for wire problem). or you might have a relay problem. I have a different set up but worth mentioning just as a starting point. mine has an A/C Fan relay and a Cooling (or Radiator) Fan Relay. on my car both relays are near the battery.
