AC system needs complete recharge/vac
so i bought the car not bothering to test the AC out and im in tucson so retarded. i tried charging it and it just dumps out somewhere. anyone got any good ideas on pinpointing a leak without wasting a whole can of refrigerant. after finding the leak whats an easy way to get a solid vaccume on it so i can put the oil and refrigerant junk back into the system?

Well, once you fix the leak you would either need the machine to evacuate the system and pull the vacuum or take it to a shop to have the vacuum pulled and the system charged. As far as the leak goes, I don't know any other way but to put the dye in with a can of like 134-a refrigerant to see where it is coning out.

if they engine bay is fairly clean you can normally just looks for the wet spot. What I mean by that is when the system leaks refridgerant it also leaks oil out. Looks for the area that is wet from the oil that leaked out and you've found your problem. If the engine bay is already pretty dirty it tends to be harder to find, if that is the case charge it and add dye liked suggested above.

Re: AC system needs complete recharge/vac
i found the leak its comming out of a connector in the top of of my compressor. the guy at autozone says i cant fix it only the guys at some AC shop can but im thinkin some JB weld put around the top of that thing along with some engine vibration will get it into the cracks he said id have to replace the whole compressor anyways i think ill give it a try ive got so many things being held together with JB weld right now i think itll work. anyone got a vaccume pump at home they could reccomend i have a feeling im going to be having alot of AC problems with this car lol.
