Car overheated, now runs better?!

Okay so this is a weird development. My cars fan motor died and the car overheated for approximately 3 min, temp guage fully pegged. Now I normally would've just shut off the car, but it's hard to do that stuck in mid town manhattan at 5pm. The weird part is, I fixed the car, cranked it over, and now it runs better that it did previously. Is there any explaination for this phenomenon? It had a slight hiccup from needing plugs, I changed them and it didn't go away. Then I did a full tune, all fluids and new upper end gaskets, and new vacuum lines. The car over all ran better, but it runs overall like 30% better after the overheat?! I don't know, except that it's smoother now, and it'll smoke all of first, part of second, and chirp third on a hard dig. Never did that before the over heat iether, anyone shed some light on this?

By the way, the motor in it as of now is the LO3 V8 TBI.

Maybe it's possible you fixed some compression issues by caking burnt oil. That's the only thing i can think of that overheating may do to make the car feel better. Just check the oil to make sure it's not dark or otherwise bad. Same for trans fluid, as overheating the engine will heat up the trans too.

I was thinking it somehow cleaned something as well being that hot. Directly after, I replaced the oil again, (no anifreeze in the oil) and flushed the radiator. The tranny is a five speed so I wasn't that worried about it. Should I be?

I only had a single electric, but I converted to flex-a-lite counter clockwise mechanical with a 1" spacer to keep the fan close to the radiator. Works like a champ.

what temps do you normally run at? im just thinking before your motor was not getting hot enough to burn off excess carbon or something.
