Let me tell you all a little A/C story....
hi i have a 88 gta thats been in the family since my parents ordered in in late 87.
it had working ac up till 93 when it leaked out...i was 12 and i remember sitting in the car with my mom and it blew hot.
they quoted her 1300 at gm to convert it to r134a and she said forget it.
so to this day its hasnt worked for 15 yrs.
ok. so a week ago i decided cause im a mechanic hobbyist....i took it to a shop and for 40 bucks they shot nitorgen into it and tested it...
they called me and told me i had one leak...
and the repair bill was 790 +tax...
880ish...
i was blown away...
so at the local parts place...i saw a brochure for this REDTEK stuff...
i bought the 3 can kit 55 bucks...and i bought a can oil and a spare refig.
so i take it home...it has the 3 conversion fittings r12 - r134a...
the fluid is comp compatible with all systems...and its colder than both...up to 6deg c.
so i ordered 2 new comp line orings...7 bucks...
i changed them in ten min...
i called my best friend he works for a local heating ac company and has all the ac stuff on his truck...
he comes over to my car an he nitrogen tested it no leaks...
he then put a vacume pump with a dig ital micron guage and tested it....still no leaks at perfect vacume...
so we put all the stuff it...
he tested the super heat once it was running and it was perfect...
in 15yrs it ahsnt worked an now it blows ICE cold in seconds of starting it.
its amazing stuff...
i had a 880 estimate....
and i fixed it for less than 100 bucks.
and if it does leak out down the road....it doesnt hurt the environment and its 12 bucks for a can of refrg.
its honestly amazing stuff...and i dont know how mechanics have been getting away with thisd conversion bullshit...
its a money grab.
u dont need to convert redteck its fully compatible...
I HIGHLY RECOMEND THIS PRODUCT TO ANYONE WHO WANT TO GET A 20YRS OLD AC SYSTEM WORKING ....
man its worth 100 bucks...
pce

$1300 back in 1993. Good grief. I bet they still even had R-12 sitting in the back of the shop too.
