2nd temp switch?

After I flushed my system I have been chasing ghosts in my cooling system. Replaced the thermostat with a 195, new fluid, new temp sender on the drivers side of the motor (now gauge works), then the other day I get a check engine light saying my Coolant Sensor was out, so I replaced it and the light went out. NOW the fan wont kick on unless I turn the A/C on. It had been working prior to all this. Some time between sender unit and sensor replacing it went out. I am guess that I stirred up all the gunk when flushing the system that it is causing these to fail. The car sat for about two years by the old owner before I started my tune up process once I got her.

I searched around here and found you all talking about this - "temperature switch located on the right (passenger) cylinder head next to the solenoid" and how it tells the second fan when to kick on. So I am going to replace that next but I cant figure out what I need to buy. Is it the same thing as the Temp Sender I bought to get my gauge to work? Keep in mind I am at work right now and cant just look at it. And can I get to it from the top or do I need to climb under the car to get to it?

And one more thing. Since the fan comes on when I turn the A/C on that means the relay is working correct?

Thanks for any help.

EDIT;
Never mind all. I found a old post here that explains everything. Not sure how I didnt it before. Must of been searching for the wrong thing. Here is the link incase someone finds my post looking for the same thing.

Re: 2nd temp switch?

The pass. side switch is called a cooling fan switch. It is located between the #8 and #6 spark plugs. Your link is the right part you need. Can be a bear to get to. When I replaced mine, I had to do it from under the car. Make sure you drain the coolant before you pull it out or you will have anti-freeze pour everywhere and on you. Relay is working if fan comes on.

Re: 2nd temp switch?

yes i learned the hard with the antifreeze when i replaced the temp sending unit on the drivers side of the engine. the guy at Advane Auto Parts said I didnt need to drain the anti freeze when replacing the unit. LOL and I took his advise. OOPS! guess logic should of told me that would happen.

Thanks for the response.
