overheating question

I'm not sure of the proper term, is there such a thing as vapor lock? If so how do you know if your cooloing system is having this problem and how do you fix it? I just replaced my thermostat and put in a new fan switch. Prior to doing this I suspected that my car might be overheating due to vapor lock, but again I am not positive that was the case. Is there such a problem, or am I just being paranoid?

Re: overheating question

Vapor lock happens when the fuel is heated up to the point to where it is no longer in liquid form. I dought you are having this problem with a fuel injector car because the fuel is circulating back to the tank.

Re: overheating question

X2.
Vapor lock is more common on carbs too.
Anyway, you may just have air in the system.
Have you done anything to it lately?
Does it overheat sitting, driving at low speed, driving at highspeed?
Got to be a little more specific.
You can't tell us to much.

Re: overheating question

It would get hot while stopped at a light or driving thru town. On the highway it would do ok. At that time I hadn't done anything to the cooling system. The fans where working fine in the beginning but I believe they stopped for some unknown reason. In an effort to try to help/solve the problem I just 3 days ago replaced the thermostat with a 180 degree and replaced the fan switch with a new hypertech fan switch. I can perform minor mechanical repairs but I am by no means an electrician and I feel that my problem is electrical.
