own a 86 Z with LG4 and a/c. These wires did go into plastic caps that joined/snapped together. Wires are on pass. side firewall next to a/c stuff. When i bought the car the plastic was melted so i pulled the wires out of it.

I have no a/c, fan doesn't blow and no heat so i'm thinking these have something to do with it.

Also, what could have caused such heat to make these wires melt the plastic?

I'm not sure, but it's possible that the wires could have contacted the heater hoses causing the to melt.

 

thanks for the reply...possible they hit the hose, but i find it funny with all the 3rd gen folks here no one knows or wants to answer this question.

 

They power the a/c and heater motor, are burned, and probably the reason you have no heat.

If any of them are the same/similar colours, the odds are fairly good they connect to each other. Take this only at face value, as I don't have a wiring diagram in front of me, any first hand knowledge of that specific car, or anything of that nature. I'm just telling you to do what I would do in your situation...trial and error...
