I have a 88 GTA 350, with a digital dash, but i also have a aftermarket gauge installed, my digital (stock) gauge doesnt work, but my aftermarket gauge when nice and hot reads 260, my aftermarket gauge goes from 100 to 400 but my question is how how do these cars normally run, and what is too hot.

Re: Temp Gauge how Hot
If it peaks at 260 your fine.
If it stays their you may want to try to cool it down some.

my car normally runs at 160-180. 260 is too warm according to the stock guage.

BE COOL !

Passenger car coolant boils at 265°.

And that’s under IDEAL conditions.

If your water temp is 260° it’s too hot.

220° is what is aimed for by manufacturers.

But that’s only done to reduce emissions.

Many of us on this site have modified street cars and shoot for 160° to 180° depending on mods.
