Air Dam

I have had a custom air dam on my 82 Trans Am for a while. I recently purchased an original type to see if that will make the car run a little cooler. The original one is nothing like I expected! Can you wise people on here take a look at the links below and see if the new original one is actually the correct type for this car, and that it will be better than the current one I have on the car.

I haven't got a good close up photo, but if you look closely at the front of the car, under the bumper the custom air dam is visible. It is around 580 cm's (I think) in length directly in the middle of the car.
