1987 trans AM with '92 chevy 305 tip cooling issues
*sorry, that should say tpi in the title...*
I am trying to buy a third gen camaro or firebird and found a good one. It is an 87 trans am in decent shape, with a newer 92 305 tpi pulled from a camaro. the engine was just installed and was only driven a short ways before it sat, and now they want to sell it, so it hasn't really been tested too much. I took it for a test drive and it over heated, the temp gage went pretty high and when we stopped the coolent boiled over and steamed alittle. This was after about a 10 minute drive, we didn't get abouve 40, but did floor it to test the engine a few times. it was about 70 out. We are pretty sure the fans didn't kick in, and it is missing the air dam on the bottom. The guy said he would work with the fans to make them kick in and install an air dam. Do you guys think that would be enough? The water pump is new. The top hose seemed alittle hotter then the bottom one, but not by a huge ammount. The only other thing that it did screwy is that the oil pressure rose with the throttle, is that normal?
thanks!

Without the air dam, our cars fall flat on their faces. It's absolutely mandatory. Start there before replacing engine parts.
