A/C Problem 87 Camaro V6
Had the system evactuated, converted, and filled with r134a.
The a/c does run and blows out cold air, the only problem I'm having is when the A/c clutch engages the belt wobbles about 1" to 1 1/2" between the alternator and crank pulley, when it is idle the belt is tight and snug, also BELT is new and is the O.E replacement, when the car is off the belt is nice and tight, it is only when the a/c clutch engages when the belt wobbles like a mad man, any suggestions?
bad tensioner spring? or something to do with my a/c unit?

NEED A STIFF BELT
With the AC running (watch out for moving parts) use a breaker bar with a ½” drive to apply some pressure to help the spring in the tensioner.
If it helps the problem a lot replace the tensioner.
Happy Racing!
If People Drove Any Slower They’d Be Going BackwardsFog lights are not driving lights. They look dorky. Turn em off slow pokes.
How bout those dorks too scared to drive without headlights on in the daytime!

Re: NEED A STIFF BELT
let me know if that works for you, because I am having the same exact issue, mine is a brand new belt (smog delete belt) and it makes a terrible shake that makes me think that the belt is gonna come off the pulley, a friend of mine has my tools but I will try that as well incase you didn't.
