Just curious to any tips or tricks that might be out there to keep your cabin temps to a minimum in this summer heat (south FL here). I've got the obvious ones covered, like working A/C (almost, lol), window tint (not too dark)and a windsheild refelctor. I've even got the passenger area of the floorboard matted in Thermo tech insulation, and even wrapped my y-pipe in header wrap. Today, I was looking at the shear size of the rear glass and how much sun it was letting in, even through the tint and was thinking about maybe somehow tastefully putting in one or two of those windshield reflectors in the back. Anywho, just wanted to know what anyone esle may have done to help with cabin temps?

 

Our cars don't have much in the way of insulation in them. Not much you can do about that. Looks like you've already got the dark tint on there. I assume you didn't cheap out on the tint. A good quality metalized tint or ceramic tint is the only way to go.

How well does your air conditioning work?

Sunshades....Those regular silver tinfoil kind work alright. But I wound up getting one that's double insulated. (thicker material) Silver on one side, blue on the other. Has suction cups on one side and pull tabs on the other (to pull the suction cups off the window.).....Only trouble is when it's really hot, the suction cups will loose their grip of the window. So I just use the sunvisors to hold it up.

I live the sunshade in the trunk area pulled out to the back all the time. I figure it's a bit less space to air condition.

 

Roll down the window and stick your head as far out as you can. Works every time.

Louvers over the rear glass work miracles, if you can stand them. Between the sunshade in the windshield, and the louvers, the inside of my car is only a few degrees hotter than the outside temperature, even after the car has been outside for hours in direct sunlight. (In Utah... where it's 90+ degrees the whole summer)
