Tranny cooler intall location
Just wondering if anyone has installed a tranny cooler along the lower bumper support. I have one of the frame rail coolers from Permacool (not sure if this is the exact p/n but it is like this one http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PRM-1006/) that fits along that location perfectly. I wanted to see if there were any major drawbacks before I installed it there. Thoughts/opinions?

Im looking at doing something like this also...hopefully someone chimes in on this. I think most people have done a traditional style one and mounted it in front of the radiator.
Re: Tranny cooler intall location
as long as you mount it somewhere where it will get air moving across it it will work. i think i would mount it right above the bottom air damn.

Re: Tranny cooler intall location
The problem with doing that is the bracket that runs up the middle of the radiator. The square style coolers would probably fit in front of the radiator but the rail style is far to long to fit without modifying the brackets. I test fitted the cooler on the bottom of the bumper support and it fits perfectly. I just wanted to see if anyone had any horror stories about placing it there. I'll take pics when I get it installed, just don't know how to post them on here or I'll try to find another thread with a pic we can refer to.

Only thing I think I see wrong here may be a possible bottoming out of the car and smashing the fins/cooler. If I'm thinking about the right support area under the car.

Yes, I was planning on installing it inline after the radiator. I know it isn't big enough to operation alone. It has "L" brackets built in to it. Good point about the airflow. I'll double check to see how far it does hang down in relation to how air would flow in that area.
For the fins to get smashed, you'd have to really bottom the car out. To bottom it out that bad, I wouldn't be worried about a $50 tranny cooler at that point if you know what I mean.
Thanks for the feedback. When I get back home I'll mock it up in there to get a quick photo so you can see what I'm looking at.
