I have a 1992 Camaro RS that i recently did a swap to a 355. A few days ago, i had to have the motor pulled and put back in, in order to drill out two broken header bolts. Ever since i picked it up, it has been overheating at times. It is fairly cold out, and it seems that as long as i keep moving i'm alright, but when i stop for a short period of time, it overheats. I am considering the possibility that the fan was not hooked back up, although i havn't gotten a chance to take a look at it because its dark out. There is an extra plug up by the batter/radiator that i do not remember before. I was just wondering how the Fan is supplied with power, and where the plug for it goes, so i can see if this is it. There is a fan switch in the pass head between #6 and #8 cylinders - this senses the coolant temp and turns on the fan.

There is a fan relay deiver side fireqwall between the brake booster and the fender - there are two relays there - the one with the large black with red stripe wire is the fan relay.

There should be a fusible link that runs to the fan relay - the fusible links are beside the battery on the radiator side.

There should be a wire loom with a connector on it that plugs into the fan motor.

One test is to turn the car to on, and turn on the A/C - if the fan is running with the A/C on, then you know the fan works, and that it's wired properly, and that the relay is good - which means your fan switch is bad.

I myself like the seperate fan controllers with the probe that runs between the fins on the radiator - I';ve had one form Flex-a-lite now for 3 years and had no problems. It's fully adjustable on and off temps, easy to install, has provisions for manual on and manual off switches, connects into the A/C system for extra cooling when A/C is on, and works every time - was about $80 at summit (cheaper than the Hypertech fan switch).

 

That's probably it. Should be a two wire, heavy guage connector that plugs into the bottom rear of the fan motor.
