ac delete completed

i have seen many ac delete questions. wish i had taken a lot of pics.
first order the bypass pulley. got mine for 38.95 off ebay. ordered the ac delete box from thirdgenranch 75.00. ordered a new blower motor and wheel from oreillly's 45.00 shipped. i ordered the heater valve that ghettocruiser used on his swap. works great. thanks ghetto. 13.00. hoses and misc 20.00. this can be done cheaper. also found that the hose on my 1992 gets vacuum when the car is started and closes the valve. when it is put on heat it opens it.
1. remove a/c compressor and lines. remove the top of the evaporater cover and remove the evap and drier. remove the outside bolts-one behind the pass head and the rest easy to get to. the other three are gotten to from inside the car. remove the cover under the pass side under the dash. then you will see two bolts and the third is under the edge of the carpet. remove wiring and rip the rest of the cover out. ok. now clean all the trash from the rear of the pass fender in the back under where the box was mounted. i also put under coating down in the after clean and painted over that. get the blower motor and wheel and mount it in the box. remember the heater only wheel is shorter. mount the delete box in the car. use a gasket or silicone. do your best with the motor vent hose. mine didnt fit right. made it. put in all the bolts. one on the bottom from inside the car will not be used. covered the hole with plastic. removed and threw away my stock heater valve and all hoses. i reused my resistor and plug. then cut the connector off the motor wires and connected the power to the single terminal and the ground to a motor mount screw.mounted the relay to the box. checked it and have all four speeds. then removed all stock heater hoses and steel tube. ran all new hoses. also installled the new heater valve. ran a new size vacuum line to it and refilled the cooling system. then unbolted the radiator top cover. pulled the radiator back and removed the a/c condensor. my knuckles are proof. made some shields to direct the air to the radiator from 1/16 aluminum sheet sold at the hardware store. here is before and after.

A couple of things to add...

1. Those GM delete pulleys are expensive! You can get a Dorman delete pulley for much cheaper. I ordered mine from summit last Monday in the afternoon, and received it Tuesday at noon! For everyone else, if you want the GM part which I will assume is higher quality, ignore this, but the cheaper chinese delete pulley is Dorman 34157:

2. it's amazing what you can find back down in the fender well under the A/C box. I found sockets, hood bolts, screws, zip ties, and a whole mess of other crap!

I've never had heat in this car since I've had it, so I just decided to do without it. Got some blockoff plates that are going on soon...

one92rs:
Any chance I can get the part of the wiring harness that
connected to the compressor? That has a big-frickin-diode
in it, that I aw-****** when renovating the engine compartment
wiring. I would gladly consider some modest re-imbursement
to defray your project cost.

Hi, you have removed exactly what i have removed. And yes there was a lot of crap at the bottom of my box aswell.
But, just wondering what you did with any wiring that was left over.... I have a small loom that used to be connected to the blower motor etc.... see pics here ...
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/elec...motor-all.html
