Coolant Pouring out.
Ok. Coolant started pouring out of my car today from the near the oil filter area.
I have located the problem but I have no idea of the name of the part. It is metal tubing that connects one end to rubber tubing connected to my Radiator and the other is connected somewhere near my oil pan area. This part has corroded but I have no idea what the name of it is and Advance Auto couldn't help me.
Thanks in advance

Re: Coolant Pouring out.
water pump. the metal input for the water pump. theres a coolant hose large that connects to the radiator to water pump. probably need check the water pump, or tighten the clamp. There might be a tear in the hose itself by the clamp. is it location like the one in pic?
, im replacing the 60's style wire clamp to a new 21st century clamp, it was leaking.

Re: Coolant Pouring out.
Its not actually the oil cooler that is leaking, it is the metal lines running to it.
I cant get a good picture at this moment but its not the oil cooler its self. its the metal lines running to it. And I cant find the name of that part anywhere or if they even have it Or should I just go to a GM Dealership and ask questions about it.
Edit: Could I clap the hoses off untill I get it fixed? I know the oil cooler was an option will it affect anything?

Re: Coolant Pouring out.
if you ask about it at the dealer, make sure to call it
ENGINE oil cooler lines-if you call it transmission cooler
lines they will look for the wrong thing. oil cooler not
real important for light duty use in cool weather so
you could bypass the coolant lines-don't plug off,
probably best to connect together so coolant circulates.

Re: Coolant Pouring out.
i assume you could just tie the lines together, wouldnt cap them, they could build pressure and burst

Re: Coolant Pouring out.
Called my local Chevy Dealer today to ask about it. They told me it was the heater outlet pipe and that the part has been discontinued -_-'
Im so confused on wtf the name of this damn line is and why is something so simple loooking so hard to find?

Re: Coolant Pouring out.
no, the heater outlet pipe is on the other side and it goes to the heater core, typical dealership idiots.
Anyway, im pretty sure they part you need is discontinued anyway. You could always eliminate it, or keep a lookout on ebay or the classified, sometimes they pop up.
Have you found out exactly where its leaking? maybe its fixable.

Re: Coolant Pouring out.
I havent located the exact spot, but it appears to be leaking right after where the second picture cuts off.
Edit: So question. In that third picture. those are the two lines that run down and connect to the metal lines. If I disconnected them there and tied them together would that fix my problem and just leave me without an oil cooler?

Re: Coolant Pouring out.
looks like they are steel lines so should be easy to braze
up the leak area(or have a welding shop,or possibly a
radiator shop fix it)

Re: Coolant Pouring out.
if those two lines are the oilcooler lines, they go to a sandwich adapter over the oil filter. If they are leaving, you could cut them off and tie them together, eliminating the oil cooler. At that point you could remove the oil cooler adapter form the block and just use the oil filter.
But lke i said, we.you doint even know exactly what/where its leaking. It could be a simple fix, a hose clamp or something. Jack up the car and have a look. I woujld do this before you start cutting things. Like said above, if its a littel hole in the metal line, it can be repaired

Re: Coolant Pouring out.
KC4 engine cooler:

The 92 cars have a nicer system BTW, uses an aluminum line that attaches with a single bolt, like on an AC compressor instead of the 2 rubber lines with hose clamps.
Hawks sells aluminum lines to replace the hose clamp type. The stock lines are steel and tend to rust out.

Re: Coolant Pouring out.
Yeah, I called Hawks earlier today because I remembered they are literally right down the road to me. Of course they knew exactly what I needed. They put the Chevy Dealership to shame, just wish they had a better price.
But based on the looks of the tubing in general it would be a safe bet to go ahead and buy a new one. Since the new one is aluminum hopefully I wont have anyfuture problems
Thanks guys for all your help ^_^

Ok I got that part, but I forgot to ask them about the rubber hoses that connect to it >_< I don't think they have them anyway
But id rather be safe and go ahead and get the rubber hoses, anyone know where i can?
