Coolant Flow Diagram
Coolant Flow Diagram
Hi everyone,
The vehicle in question is a 1992 Camaro 5.7L TPI. Does anyone know where I can find a coolant flow diagram for my vehicle? I purchased it last year to replace my RS that some ^&%$#$ twenty year old in a BMW destroyed after he ran a red light and t-boned me. The heater core has been bypassed and hoses have been plugged and removed.
The problem is that the upper portion of coolant underneath the radiator cap, and in the reservior are very rusty, and I think it's coming from the hose that's connected to the top of the radiator by the cap, from having the coolant sitting stagnant in there. That hose runs from the radiator to metal piping in front and underneath the motor to where the oil filter is, and then back out the other side through metal piping again but ends up blocked. I'm thinking this led to one end of the heater core, but I'm not sure.
There is also an opening in the block underneath the throttle body that's blocked (not the thermostat), and the lines in and out of the throttle body are blocked.
I'd like to re-route the flow so that collant is moving everywhere and not sitting stagnant anywhere. I can get pics if you need. Thanks guys.

If the heater core has been bypassed, you probably don't have the
heater control valve in place either.
Take some pics, and I can probably help you out. Worst case,
in 2 weeks, I can get back to where my service manual is,
which probably has the direct diagrams.
At any rate, it sounds like a good radiator flush/service will ultimately
be in order.
