Hack Job i found.

I have had my Firebird for around 4 months now and since i was not using the AC due to compressor problems i didnt bother fixing the problem, but its getting rly hot here and i fixed my compressor and now im using AC.

Ok the problem is that apparently something went wrong with the ac system while the previous owner had the car and to fix it he attached a wire directly from the hvac control to the connector on the compressor thats on the back of it , the one thats round. My friend whos an ac mechanic told me this is bad cuz the compressor wont do cycles when switching to a lower setting.

Anyone knows if theres any sencor in the car that went bad causing the compressor to not turn on without connecting it directly to a power source?

Re: Hack Job i found.

maybe the low pressure sensor in the compressor itself. wire it back correct and see what it does.

Problem is all the wires are there but without the hack wire it wont turn the comp clutch on when i turn the ac. could the low press sensor be bad itself ?

Re: Hack Job i found.

first, check to make sure there is enough freon or whatever in there.
if there isnt enough, the stock system wont turn on.

once you know there is enough refrigerant, check the low pressure sensor.
the sensor prevents the system from turning on if the pressure is low

i would just replace the sensor and try it again.

if it still doesnt work, you could have a bad compressor clutch, but i am not sure if hotwiring it would make it come on either... most likely its the low pressure sensor

The AC does turn , i recently had to replace the o-rings cuz they went bad and spilled all the freon and oli, so i recharged the system and everything works again. It worked before like it is now with the hotwire , its full on gas and oil, i just want to make the system work like factory so it would do cycles when ac not turn to full , at day it dosent bother me having it at full cuz rly with 90 degree weather its needed, but at night i have two options either turn it off or on, i cant turn down the fan cuz my mechanic friend told me that if the system does not do cycles with low ac settings it could damage the compressor.

I might have to buy a new compressor anyways cuz of the orings going bad and the oil being spilled it got stuck, but i managed to restore it with a system refresh.

It’s Gonna Be A Long Cold Summer

You don’t have to buy a new comp due to bad O-rings, just buy new O-rings.

When it’s too cold move the temperature slider to the right to mix hot with cold air.

And check that low pressure switch as advised above.
