Wire i found.

I got a 92 firebird with a 305 tbi, my ac is giving me trouble and i found this custom connected wire that goes from ac controls to my ac compressor, it connects to the connector on the back of it, the one thats round, without this my compressor clutch wont turn on, can anyone tell me if thats a sensor that maybe went bad and the previous owner to save some dollars just made it work by running a hot wire to it.

My AC compressor does not do cycles even at low settings, its just constantly on wich worries me, i think that its some kind of preassure sensor if im not mistaken and can it be replaced without having to buy a new compressor ?

Please help me out guys i cant stand this hot weather in miami anymore lol

Re: Wire i found.

according to the body wiring there , it prolly has to do with that pressure cycling switch.

Re: Wire i found.

Is sounds like the pressure switch stopped working, so the PO hot wired it so it would run.

Re: Wire i found.

Is that the little round thing on the back of the compressor ? And can it be replaced without an entire new new unit ?

Also that switch is in charge of doing cycles right ? Cuz when i turn my ac on it will run constantly without the compressor doing any cycles even at low settings.

Yea, the pressure switch cycles the clutch, and Im pretty sure the round plug is the high pressure switch. I dont know if its a simple replacement though.

Re: Wire i found.

Theres a connection on the front of the compressor wich i think cant be replaced, then theres another connection on the back wich is a round plug , i think the thing is threaded inside the compressor.
