Mechanical or electric??
hey, i have a 305 quadrajet carbed v8. has the mechanical fan on it now, but its bent a little bit after hitting my fan shroud, which i removed. after i drive the car maybe 4 miles it overheats and water/coolant bubbles and ppours out my overflow tank. would it be better to buy a new fan and put it on with the fan shroud on, or better to put on a single electric fan with the shroud and forget the mechanical fan. i already have the electric fan in my garage..whatcha think?

Re: Mechanical or electric??
first off how did you eliminate the overheating issue towards the fan, it could be something wrong with your radiator, water pump or a majority of other things, recently i had my water pump fail and it was in there for 25 years and never rebuilt or anything, as for your fan situation if you want electric id go with aftermarket, but the mechanical ones work just fine in my opinion

Re: Mechanical or electric??
well you deffinately gotta have a fan shroud on a mechanical fan engine. if you go electric id suggest doing dual electrics that cover as much of the radiator core as possible.
