I wasn't sure where to post this but this looked like a good section.
I managed to source a new cooling fan switch however i am having trouble locating the pig tail for the switch. does anyone know where i can find one? I also think i remember seeing somewhere that the pigtail for the Knock Sensor is the can be used, is this true? any help is greatly appeciated.

oh i forgot to mention that my Passenger side cooling fan is on with the ignition on. im not sure if this has anything to do with the switch
Sounds like a failed fan switch caused them to ground the wire to it near the switch or at the relay to run the fan whenever the ignition is on. Common quick fix. Most parts stores should be able to get the pigtail from the Dorman's catalog or something similar. Where's Newbie, he usually has a link to those parts...
yeah....im gonna confirm that by saying the following:
got home from work, unplugged the fan thats always on and started the car and let it warm up....the other fan kicked on right around when its supposed to so the primary works fine
i have managed to find the parts via rock auto....the pig tail is sort of hidden in thier catalog. its under coolant temp sensor connector

Another option is Dorman part number 85140 - can be ordered from most any auto parts store as most all of them carry Dorman products. Can see it on page 32 of this online catalog: http://www.dormanproducts.com/flipbo...nductTite.html

so the fan switch doesnt need to be changed out the pig tails do I had a scenario just like henryd3 said, my sensor and pigtail had snapped off, and the previous owner had grounded out the relay so the fan ran all the time. Without reading into this on other threads (and actually having the motor out of the car to see the rememants of the sensor and plug, i wouldn't have realized what was going on. The grounding job on the relay was done well cosmetically where it didn't looked hacked up... I've since replaced the sensor and the pigtail, and removed the ground from the relay. I believe the pigtail I got may have been a knock sensor pigtail, it looked the same, except maybe the color. Can't remember for sure, but I do know the parts store had it stocked on the dorman rack with the other pigtails.

does any one know what the fan switch is i cant figure that out i have the same problem and cant get it to stop
If I remember right, the fan switch is in the passenger side head, or it's in the block on the passenger side. I know if you search fan switch, you'll be find something, it's pretty common I guess.

fan switch is in the head, knock sensor is in the block - both look almost identical and have the same looking connectors.
Ur gonna have to get under the car...the knock sensor is on the block, the cooling fan switch in on the head, both on the passenger side, I swapped out the switch and the pig tail and all is good now, high speed fan only comes on when it gets that hot or with the a/c on
