V6 LB8 Single Fan Wont Turn On
I am at wits end....and in need of help...Working on 1986 V6 MPFI with the single fan and I just can't figure out the problem. To begin with, when I jump the ALDL (A-B) jumpers the fan does not run. Also, with the key on, A/C on...no fan. The only time the fan will run is when the GR/W lead from fan relay on driver side firewall is jumped to a good ground.
I have looked and looked but I am unable to find a fan switch on the passenger side cylinder head just behind the engine removal bracket. I also am unable to locate a lead or pigtial that would connect the switch.
There was a HAYDEN KIT that I was thinking about purchasing. But, I am concerned about the fan not functioning while KEY ON with the A/C ON?
Guys...Any help would be greatley appreciated. Also, perhaps a service manual guide if one is available

Alot of the controller kits will work with A/C. I've seen some of the Hayden kits, and for the money, the Flex-a-lite kits are better - better features, better instructions, and most Hayden kits I've seen still require the purchase of a relay, whereas the Flex-a-lite kits comes with everyting (even the wiring and connectors) included. But you really just need it to come on when the car gets hot, regardless of the A/C.
But yes, skip thye factory mumbo jumbo junk and install an aftermarket fan controller and be done. My Flex-a-lite has been working great now for over 4 years with no issues ever.

To be clear..I should not be concerned that the fan will not run while jumping the ALDL.. Or even that the fan will not run with key on, A/C on.

There is a plug on the A/C line, passenger side, with a blue and black wire. If you unplug this, the fan should come on with the key on.
There should be a redundant fan switch even though the v6 fan is ECM controlled. Fan switch should be in the head between the exhaust ports, not on the back, iirc.

Re: V6 LB8 Single Fan Wont Turn On
I unplugged the A/C pressure switch and still no fan....I also pulled the ECM and grounded the Green/White pin D2...fan ON...Passenger side head has a PLUG where I would expect to see the switch where you are descibing one should be. I pulled back some of the shielding and could not find any cut or unused pigtails. Do you know where i can find a pic of the said harness connector... ie how many wires what colors and such.I am seriuosly thinking of going after market for the fan controller but my concern over the A/C fan ON issue has me bothered just a bit.
