How to disconnect a/c and "save" r12 charge for a couple weeks?
well I need to disconnect my a/c s so i can route my turbo plumbing, then get custom A/C lines made to fit around my hotside/turbo.
My a/c blows ice cold, and it charged with r12 currently. Ideally, I would like to bottle the r12 charge, disconnect the a/c lines that are in the way, and cap the system to keep moisture from entering the system/dryer. Then get my new lines made, hook them up, evacuate the system and put my original charge back in. I'm not super familiar with a/c work, i know how the system works but I've never worked on one before, is what I'm thinking even possible?
I can't take it to an a/c place either, they would have to come to me because the car is apart right now (should have done the a/c first i know....)
if i can't save my charge, what is my best option to release my current charge?

There is only one answer. You must have a freon recovery unit. It hooks to your system and sucks the R-12 out and captures it in a special cannister. It must be a R-12 cannister also since you cannot mix freons. Call some different ac shops and let them know what you have and one of them might help since R-12 is higher than gold. It is a shame that R-12 has been taken away since it is the best freon we have ever had. I remember buying 100s on cannisters back in the 80s and 90s untill the outlawed it. It was less than $30.00 for a 30lb jug back then. The good ole days.
I almost forgot; it is against federal law for you to release your freon into the air since it supposedly hurts the ozone and there is a $50.000 fine if you get caught or something like that. What kills me is R-12 and R-22 are very heavy gasses and it is impossible for them to reach the ozone and the number one killer of the ozone is cow flatulant (cow farts) second is airplanes and third is volcanoes if memory serves so go figure.
