a/c stupidity.

with all due humility, heres what happened.

i have been collecting parts for a year or so, to do both my wifes and mine verts. I did hers first with no issues. cools extremely well. im still in the process of tweaking that one (with the much app'd help of reid flemming).

today i did mine, it flew together. even so well that i was chatting on the phone while putting the orifice tube in its hole.

all together, vac'd down. put in 2 cans. started the car to top off the rest of the way, it took the third. then i put the guages on.....wow the low side red lined, andthe high was 500. WTF. no cold air everythings getting hot, not cold.

time to walk away for a moment. i figure there has to be a blockage of some type.

i blew everything out before i assembled it. i check the evap first. maybe a bad orifice tube.

its pushed all the way down. ----BINGO. While chatting about how well the build was going, i put the o-tube in upside down.

i vac'd it back dwn and refilled.. eveything is well now. hope this helps somebody from making the same mistake.

Re: a/c stupidity.

I was gonna say it sounds like the orifice got locked or else put in backwards.....I know you're not the first person to have done that. Those orifice tubes DO look like they should go in the other way.
