Heater hose delete/reroute

I have been cleaning up the engine bay for a few weeks now, and I read somewhere about the heater valve delete. What I did as my heater core has gone to crap as well..... I only use the car in the spring/summer, so I did the heater valve delete as well as deleted my heater core. I wanted to know if there would be any issues with the way I have my cooling system ran. I have only the upper and lower main radiator hoses hooked up. everything else has been capped off. Will I have any issues with this or what?... The car is an 85 Camaro with a 89 TPI drivetrain.

Re: Heater hose delete/reroute

well its not an issue if you never deal with the cold but,
your heater core should be replaced regardless and the 3 way valve in the bay also
has lines going to a oil cooler if equipped with one its usually a good idea to keep that there the car was designed a certain way unless you are trying to rebuild the car into a certain spec the oem spec is to have everything there in order to operate correctly ie: normal operating temperatures, also if you bypass the lines you just have no damn heat lol up here its a necessary evil if operating in cold etc...
creature comforts are usually nice to have
but to each thier own much of luck to ya laddie...

no clue about capping off, but I have the two hoses that ran to the core just running into each other bypassing my leaking core line. Summer car only now.

Re: Heater hose delete/reroute

If you have them properly capped there will be no issues. I had mine capped for about a year after I swapped in my 383. When I got out of the Marines and moved back to Idaho I quickly added them back in. Heat is a necessity here, lol.

Re: Heater hose delete/reroute

That is all your engine needs. The rest are all creature comforts which aren't required.
