cooling fans

I am currently looking into cooling fans and was wondering what to go with. whats everyone running for cooling fans?
do I need dual fans or would a singal just be fine?

I got a 305 v8 and am still just running the clutch fan.

I would like to switch to a 350 someday.

Re: cooling fans

single fan would be fine. even your clutch fan is fine (assuming it's working properly and shrouded properly. There is actuially very little with the fan itself that affects cooling - I'm running a 350 that runs warm, but using a single electric stock TBI fan and no problems.

The problems arise with the stupid GM factory fan switches, which are all junk - even the aftermarket $100 fan switches are junk. Use an aftermarket fan controller like a Flex-a-lite, with adjustable settings, and you will never go wrong. I have the $100 Flex-a-lite unit from Summit, it's been perfectly flawless now for 5+ years and keeps my car at 200 max no matter what the conditions (with a 180 stat).

Re: cooling fans

alright thanks
ya mine isnt shrouded that good. when I bought the car it only came with the top shroud I tried rigging up a bottom one off an old 1500 truck but its pretty crappy looking and now the fan seems to be hitting it.

Re: cooling fans

There was no bottom shroud on your car originally, just the top.

I still run the clutch fan on my 84.
