Fail Safety?

So I redone the top end of my motor and since then when I drive the car for 10+ mins then turn off the car and go to start the fan turns on, even when the key is turned to have the radio on. The temp guage on my car shoots up when i start it but when tap it to loosen up go straight down and might work im not sure. Anyways, I was wondering if GM offered a "Fail Safety" for your fans to turn on when the car cannot read its temp

Re: Fail Safety?

You mean run the fan while the car is stopped? There's no point. If the engine's not running, it's not getting hotter.

The fan does run when the car is off.

Re: Fail Safety?

so you are saying, you drive the car 10 minutes so it gets hot, then turn it off. The fan is not currently running correct? then you put the key back in "run", engine still hot, no cranking, and the fan starts? thats normal.
