a/c compressor connector polarity (?)

Forgot to re-connect after valve cover job, now the plastic connector has crumbled and disappeared so I lost my keyway. Schematic says green wire is (+), can anyone tell me of this goes on inboard spade towards engine, or outboard spade towards fender? THANKS!

Re: a/c compressor connector polarity (?)

It would probably help to know engine, year, and which side the compressor is on. Driver side, passenger?

that probably would help a bit....

1982 model, with 305 & auto trans. The compressor is on the drivers side. The compressor male spade terminals are at 12 o'clock right behind the pulley.

thanks in advance all.

it does not matter you are supplying power to a coil.

Yeah, I don't think it matters which side it's on, all the compressors should work the same. Two different ones with it on the pass side have the positive(green wire) on the side toward the passenger, ground toward driver side. I imagine yours would be the same, anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong and I've got an extra connector with wires and the resistor attached if you need that. So from your first direction, inboard is the positive

Indeed. The main thing to have would be the diode between the two terminals to prevent the electrical spike when the clutch disengages.

Your profile picture is my TB btw, lol. I haven't seen that in a while.
