HELP! Strongest Dual Fans/ Overheating
withOUT a shroud...
I currently have 2800cfm dual 12 inch fans and a shroud and my supercharged iroc STILL overheats...the ENTIRE cooling system is BRAND NEW, and she still cant stay under temp in the spring/summer months.
new 3 row aluminum radiator, new dual 12inch 2800 cfm fans with a new aluminum shround, new hoses, new edelbrock aluminum waterpump, new thermostat, air damn under car is in good shape...
(car in new jersey)... and runs fine in the colder months of fall and winter.. but cant keep her cool in the warm months when shes supposed to be driven...
im at a loss of what to do...im looking for the HIGHEST CFM dual 12 inch fans i can buy...without a shroud. ive seen plenty 4000-4600 cfm dual fans kits on summit BUT the all have built in shrouds that are too big for the space thats left under the hood (the 3 row rad eats up alot of space)...
please help !!!! any other ideas as to what it could be?? this has been a nagging problem for close to 2 years!
(fyi the headers and y pipe have been "jet hot" coated with their "extreme temp" coating and that didnt solve the problem either!)

Re: HELP! Strongest Dual Fans/ Overheating
In my experience you need to have the shroud, or the unshrouded core area around the fans will not contribute much to cooling. Does your current shrouding collect air from the entire area of the core, or does it miss a bit?
Other than that it all sounds in good shape. How about timing - too retarded? Or mix too lean?

Well first I would verify timing and fueling. Not sure what SC you are running but at cruise you should be in the high 14s to 15s, for AFR. If you are lower than that then you are burning fuel as heat. cause it is not needed to turn the wheels. Not sure what the engine combo is but in your average small block you need to be seeing about 35+ degrees of timing at cruise. Once again if you are not you are stacking unburnt fuel in the chamber that is discarded as heat and slight preignitions.
If you want the most powerful fans for your machine you need to look at for taurus fans. If you cannot fit them due to the radiator, sell it. The stock radiator with good fans can support at least 500hp if not more.

Make sure the condenser isn't beat up and blocking air. Also read about the Taurus fan that all the hotrodders brag on. It is over 4000CFM and two speed with a shroud.
