Short/ long water pump pulley issue

Heres the whole story. And this seemed like the best place to come to. I have a 40 ford 1/2 ton with an 87 350 tpi in it from a camaro. It was installed with a mechanical fan that works well for cooling. I would like to go to an electric fan setup. It has a long, standard rotation water pump on it. It has the half n half belt set up on it. Meaning one serp belt running the water pump and alt, and one v belt going over the water pump and running the p/s pump.

So... I want to install a short water pump on it ( standard rotation), to free up some space to install electric fan(s). In later years there were electric fans on these cars, so did they have short water pumps then for more space? I need the water pump pulley ( serp and v belt) that will offset the space that is eliminated by using a short water pump.

I have read that early 80's Vette short water pump will work but I still need the right pulley

Re: Short/ long water pump pulley issue

Cars with electric fans (e.g. L69) had the same WP as any other cars.

The short pump will not fit the rest of your accessory setup. Don't go that way. Not necessary and will only cause needless trouble, unless of course you're into that sort of self-inflicted pain. The "Vette" one, like most "Vette" anything, is no different from any other one... it's the same as say a 65 Biscayne station wagon with a 283 2-bbl.

Your alt/WP belt is not "serpentine" ("snake-like"); it is merely flat, wide, & ribbed. Minor semantic point I know, but just the same...
