location of temp gauge sender

Hi all.
Does anyone have a photo of the location of the temp sender?
Its on a '84 t/a 5L.

I don't have a pic, but I also have an 84 T/A. The temp sender is located on the driver's side, directly underneath the stock exhaust manifold, between the first and second spark plugs from the front. There should be a single wire clipped on it.

that looks like where joe is talking about, and it looks like where i have my after market gauge hooked in. my factory gauge is pluged into a sending unit next to the thermostat housing.

Cool. The aftermarket one that is currently on the car (a mechanical one) is in the thermostat housing water neck. Is it worth installing a new one in the old location, or just replace the mechanical one with a proper sender?

i have the after market gauge in the head because the temp there is critical on a 400 sb. as long as the sending unit is for your gauge you should be fine...hopefully if im wrong somebody will let us know.
