coolant hose routing???
gotta dumb rookie question for ya. I am going from a 89 305tbi rs to a 350 with edelbrock rpm intake, 1411 carb, the block is a 69-78 and the heads and intake are vortec. with headers NO EMMISSIONS. my question is what if anything do I need to do to make the coolant go through the heater core like it is supposed to. the little vaccume valve thing has been disconnected any help is appreciated. thank you.

Re: coolant hose routing???
ok i'll have to wait until i get ready to drop it in and take pics of it in the bay. I was hoping someone could help me find out what fittings/ports need to be used on the performer RPM intake for the correct flow.
I think it has to go out the radiator:through water neck:thru intake
ut the intake into the heater core: out the heater core into the intake: through the block: into the water pump and back to the radiator (thru the big water hose out of the bottom of the pump)
but where/what ports in the intake do i use to go from the block to the to and from the heater core properly. I want to make sure that this thing is flowing correctly!!!

Re: coolant hose routing???
On mine I use one heater hose port off of the manifold which I believe is 5/8" and one off the water pump which is 3/4". Of coarse they go to my heater core the idea is big hose in smaller hose out keeps hot water in the heater core a little longer.

Is there a plug in the water pump you could take out and put a fitting in? Does your manifold have two heater hose fittings? Does your radiator have a hose fitting on it?

Re: coolant hose routing???
if the water pump doesn't have a port on it, then hook that hose up to the nipple in the radiator tank right below the cap. if you don't have that nipple on the tank, then get a water pump that has the fitting on it- if you still have the serpentine setup, then get a water pump for an early 90's pickup or suburban, the parts jockey should ask you if you need one with a fitting or not. that hose will go to the heater core fitting closest to the center of the car, and should be the 3/4" hose. the other fitting on the heater core goes to the fitting on the passenger side of the intake manifold and it should be a 5/8" hose.
