temp sender location and rad fan controller location
I have a 86 trans am with a carbed 350 with vortech heads that seems to get hot according to the gauge whether im sitting still or driving at highway speeds . I have a brand new radiator all new hoses water pump ,t stat and even a new heater core. I measured the temps at the inlet and outlet of the water pump and the radiator while it says that its hot (240-260) and i get 185 - 165 across the radiator about the same on the water pump and tstat housing. The only place I get 220 is at the temp sending unit in the drivers side head between 1 and 3 cylinders. I have the rad fan switch in the intake manifold on the left side of the intake right next to the t stat. i have read here that that switch should be in the pass side head. The engine seems to not be overheated and runs good should i move the temp sender to the intake and the rad fan switch to the head? I also know that the rad fans are working . I have one wired up to a toggle switch that i turn on manually and the other fan comes on at about 240 degs. i did notice that the lower rad hose was colapsing with an increase in rpms so i replaced it with a better one that has a spring in it .

Re: temp sender location and rad fan controller location
IIRC,
TEMP sender for the gauge is in the driver side head, between the
#1 & #3 exhaust.
