Oil pressure running higher at idle?

Oil pressure use to run at the first yellow mark for the longest time after car was warmed up, now it runs at 25-30 psi at idle warmed up.. is this normal? and could someone explain the change is psi? (I use the same weight oil I have been for 3 years (10w30)

You might want to check your oil pressure with a different gauge. Seems to me maybe your sending unit or the gauge you are reading are not working right.

Re: Oil pressure running higher at idle?

25 or 30 is not so bad. It is recommended that you have at least 10lbs for every 1000 RPM you're running. Does it go up as the revs go up as you drive? Hotter weather and old oil can cause a slight drop in pressure sometimes
