hard wired fan wont kick on now
so when i got my 86 t/a the elctric fan was "hardwired" to run when the key was turned on. i dont know much about it except that there are 3 black wires at the firewall on the driver side that he had connected together. and up to this point it has worked, when the key is on, the fan is running...only one prob was when the wire came unplugged form the fan itself. but that was no biggy, after i plugged it back in it worked fine...now its not working? the 3 black wires are still connected and the fan is plugged in? any ideas? the fan is a little wobbely but spins freely, not hung up or anything. The best way to fix the problem is to restore the fan circuit to its original configuration, however in the mean time apply 12 volts directly to the fan with a couple of jumper wires from the battery.
If it still won’t run the fan motor is defective.
If it does run remove the jumpers and make sure the fan is grounded.
If it is you have an open circuit from the hot in run circuit that was energizing the relay or the direct feed.
You didn’t say if a relay is (still) being used to run the fan.
