84 trams am coolant sensor issuse

so after replacing my ported vacuum switch, my coolant sensor i was hoping that the codes on my comp would go away. the light does not go on but the computer reads codes. im worried that i switched the wrong sensor with the coolant sensor, i thought it was. in the thermostat housing in front of the carb, their bottoms looked right but the top (connector wise) was completely different (new one came with a connector)
i took pics of the one i took out, hopefully its where it bongs in the right spot

you changed the right one-that is the CTS for the ECM.I have heard the original style CTS with the concentric plug is no longer made,so replacements are all '85 up style and come with replacement plug.

Re: 84 trams am coolant sensor issuse

that's a relief, thanks. but why does the code still show, plus my temp gauge reads over 100 and the computer identifies it at life 60 or 70 degrees?

Re: 84 trams am coolant sensor issuse

you just disconnect the car battery for a couple min. and stored codes in the ECM will erase.

or disconnect the ecm power wire for a few seconds so you don't lose your radio station presets. it's a single wire coming from the pos batt terminal and running along the right inner fenderwell. should have a quick connect plug on it.
