Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Re: fan help please

is my problem in the relay or the switch or something else
Probably so.

Easy enough to figure out...

Key on, engine not running: disconnect the wire to the switch; touch the center contact to something grounded, WITHOUT DAMAGING THE CONNECTOR THE SWITCH OR THE WIRE (maybe, stick a piece of small wire up in it and touch the other end to the block); does the fan come on? yes/no....

Yes: problem is the switch, or the connector not making good contact to it.

No: does the relay click? yes/no...

No: relay.

Yes: problem is the relay, wire bringing 12V to the relay, wire carrying 12V from the relay to the motor, motor.

Is there 12V at the red wire to the fan relay? yes/no...

No: repair the wire WITHOUT HACKING ANYTHING. No wire nuts, no "run a new wire", no "find a hot wire somewhere and splice it", no cutting, no stripping, no switches, NO HACKING: just REPAIR THE WIRE. Find the break and REPAIR (as opposed to "fix") it, cleanly, neatly, just like factory, NO HACKING ANYTHING. No dykes. No strippers. At least not until you're finished with the wire.

Yes: is there 12V at the other fat wire leaving the relay when it's clicked? yes/no...

No: relay

Yes: is there 12V at the fan motor? yes/no....

Yes: replace the motor.

No: wire from relay to fan is damaged. See "repair the wire" above.

Pretty simple, eeeeeeezie, any idiot can figure it out, because I'm not near as smart as an idiot, and if I can figure it out, then surely they can. But you're <Forrest Gump>smaaaarrrt</Forrest Gump> so you'll breeze right through it. Eh??
