Heater Core Help!

Hey guys I have a 85 camaro z28, and finally after two years of not howing to create a thread and heres the first!
But to the point, so my heater core needs replacing and I know you need to dash out and its cover. The question is could someone click me some pictures or link a guide into helping swapping out the heater cores? Reason I proceed by taking dash out and bottom piece on passenger and saw too many things that can be unbolted...and I'm like uhhh (keep in mind I am also in the middle of swapping out my engine and transmission so theres parts everywhere and no need to have fun taking it apart learning it right now)

Re: Heater Core Help!

i did mine on my 86, it was a pita, but i took the dashpad and pass lower dash cover thing, there is some 7mm bolts on the heater cover inside think 3 or 4 of them, there and once you take them out, take the heater hoses off, and go back and open the inside core cover and pull it out, its a tight fit getting it in and out. when putting the new one in be very delicate and not to bend the hoses where it attches to the core cause thats where they blow... once you get it lined up bolt it back up and run the car and add coolant.

i woulda took pictures but its more of a feel type thing

probably could find some pictures of the cover on 4th gen dash swap in the before parts lol

Re: Heater Core Help!

yes. You do NOT need to take the dash itself out; just the dash pad and lower hush panel. You also do NOT need to take the heater case apart or out in the engine compartment. It is a bit of a pain to get to but can be done in a couple hours.

Re: Heater Core Help!

you can just open it up from the bottom, dont need to take the whole dash, its a tight fit but its doable
