running cold...
kinda' baffled on this, but engine seems to run really cold while driving, according to the dash gauge. but also according to the same, while idling, the fan comes on at approx. 200* (off at 185*), t-stat (180*) is opening as advertised, relative to the indication on the gauge. all seems normal at that point. i have not been able to verify actual temp on the ecu from the cts yet, but would expect it to be correct... just wonder why the temp gauge seems to indicate a low temp while driving.(?) the gauge only registers between the first and second mark.

Re: running cold...
If your car is like mine, it's not accurrate. I've got a 180 T stat, 195 on, 185 off fan switch and my gauges rarely comes of the first hash mark on the gauge unless I"m sitting in traffic. Then the fan kicks on at the 220 mark on my gauge (Middle hash- Which tells m e the gauge is inaccurate). I think yours is running fine.

Re: running cold...
Mine too. I have a 180 stat and while driving the temperature it's always low but at idle it gets close to 200 (on the stock gauge)
With the all aluminum 2 row rad and Mark Vlll fan the coolant never leaves the radiator at more than 150 but my laser thermometer says the temperature on the whater neck is about 170-180, heads 160-170 but the temperature sensor itself it's at 200??? Go figure... the gauge is actually accurate but why does it get so hot? From being by the exhaust ports???

Temper Tantrum
Remove and test the thermostat by placing it, with a thermometer, in cool water, then heat the water till it starts opening.
The stat should start to open at the temp stamped on it +/- 7°.
Then slowly poor cool water in the pot to see when it’s fully closed.
Also some brands of stats will be forced open at higher RPM, causing the engine to run cool.
