Fan question
I looked & I did not see this question & I apologize if someone has already asked it before. I am trying to put my 1987 iroc 305tpi back to almost as original condition as possible. The person I bought it from installed a aftermarket single fan, temperature gage & radiator. In doing so he also wired where nothing worked. Needless to say he also ripped out everything that was original from the factory. I just bought a single factory fan & radiator from a person parting out the same car as mine thinking the car had that set up originally, As I was installing the fan that is when I noticed that my car was supposed to be a dual fan set up, so I went to the salvage yard & bought the lower single fan bracket & all I could find was a harness for a dual set up. My question is this can I run the single fan off of the dual fan harness?

Re: Fan question
The dual fan TPI set up ran one fan off the ECM and one fan from the fan switch (Passenger side between the 6 and 8 cylinders just below the dip-stick. The ECM turns on the primary fan at a pre-determined temperature. The Switch turns the second fan on at the fan switch temp (Generally 225*) and both fans will be on when the AC is turned on.
Do a searh on here for "Fan wiring" and you should fine a bunch of posts about it including some wiring diagrams.
Using just one fan, you'll want to run it from the fan switch as the models with the single electric fan such as mine are set up (I believe, someone else may want to chime in if they feel this is wrong).
You have two relays on the firewall. Both have 4 wires on them. They run power to the fans. One from the ECM and one from teh fan switch and they run the applicable fans. This is what your dual fan harness should plug into.
