Hey guys last year i put a new factory thermostat in the Camaro thinking that it would fix the temperature gauage not moving. Now, it reads barely over 100 degrees when driving it, BUT when left to idle it will reach 210-220 range and fan will come on and cool it back down. I dont know what else to try, Any suggestions?

When you changed out the gauge sending unit, how much difference did it make?

When you shot the head castings and the water outlet with your infrared thermometer, what was the actual casting and coolant temps?

 

If you got anything but ac delco it probably doesn't work. I've tried 4 aftermarket coolant temperature senders all read way off.

I don't think he ever stated he replaced the temp sender, just the thermostat. I have the same issue as well.

 

I did change out the sending unit also. Think the gauge may just be malfunctioning?
